Hydrogen
In 2009 Azure will put the first solar hydrogen fuel system in place in Australia. Hydrogen is expected to be the fuel that will replace petrol on our roads in the future. Most car manufactures have designed hydrogen fueled cars and BMW were the first to release one onto the road, in Germany (shown filling on left). The BMW Hydrogen 7 is a piston driven car. The fuel may be much cheaper then petrol if you own your own equipment.
Cooling
A solar thermal energy system like Azure uses has the advantage of being able to provide heat to absorption chillers. This means your building can have air-conditioning that runs of heat and not electricity. Click to download this report containing more information Solar Technology Report 1.pdf .
Electricity
Azure Energy has several patents on the solid state high efficiency technology to convert heat into electricity. We use solar thermal collectors as a source of heat to make electricity. Our systems can provide electricity 24/7 because we store the heat in insulated tanks and as hydrogen which can be burned to reheat the tanks when needed. A solar thermal system means that you have only to use a heat exchanger attached to thermal a storage system to heat air for space heating - Water
A solar thermal system has the ability use a heat exchanger that attaches to it to heat water for domestic or industrial use.

Solar Equipment
- Microgrid
- A microgrid from Azure will provide electricity, hydrogen, cooling and heating to ideally 60 homes. Out of those 60 homes only 10 will have to have solar collectors on the roof because of the high efficiency of our system. We can do a standalone home also if it is requested.
- The hydrogen based storage system will allow greater than 30days of storage of energy. That will make this system the only alternative to coal, gas and nuclear power stations.
- Commercial/Industrial Plant
- In an industrial application, like a shopping mall the equipment is made on an industrial scale to optimize the performance, visual appeal and cost neutral period (payback time)
- Solar Performance
As you can see from Figure 4 the Hopkins x Mirotherm system is more than twice as efficient as the best competing photovoltaic technology. The Hopkins Mirotherm performance is 4 times as good as the commercial silicon technology. We estimate that a system using a 60% efficient Hopkins thermoelectric generator will be a ¼ of the cost of the equivalent PV standalone energy system. PV prices have not changed in 20 years and the market is growing at 30 to 40% per year [Photon Magazine].
